Barcelona reject Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez bid

Barcelona have rejected three bids from clubs abroad including Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain claim Spanish media outlet Sport. The 25-year old cost Barca around £30million back in 2011, and has often been frustrated by being utilised as a substitute.

You’d imagine Sanchez would be available at a cut-price deal due to the lack of football he’s had at the Camp Nou, but his last season was his best by far. In 54 appearances in all competitions he managed an impressive 21 goals and 15 assists – highlighting Barcelona’s reluctance to sell.

Pedro is usually the preferred option out on the right-wing, and the Catalan side have confirmed that Gerard Deulofeu will be returning this summer, so it looks like one of the three will certainly be on their way out.

Manchester United’s wingers struggled badly last season, with the exception of Adnan Januzaj. You could argue that Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young all need to be moved on this summer with fresh faces coming in to replace them.

  1. Yes, I would love to see Alexis in a united shirt, and I was gutted because we reportedly came close to signing him from Udinese a few seasons ago. His direct and dynamic style would suit the league and our way of playing, and his technical ability is clear for all to see (check the goal he scored against Atleti for example). He seems like a massive upgrade from Valencia and would be a regular starter under van Gaal. I just hope he chooses us this time if he were to move on.

  2. Absolutely would. If there’s still any chance to get Reus this summer though, he would be my first choice. Also, apparently Lucas might become available if PSG manage to land Hazard. Either of those three would be a massive improvement over any of the wingers currently at Old Trafford.
