Manchester United made a huge statement of intent when they signed Bastian Schweinsteiger over the summer. The influential German cost the club a mere £6.5million from Bayern Munich, and he has made a massive impact with the fans already.
He clearly still receives plenty of love from the Bavarian fans, too, and Bayern Munich’s current president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has confirmed that Munich will host a farewell game for the 30-year old when he eventually decides to hang up his boots.
This is a touch of class from Bayern. Obviously he has spent the majority of his career there and the fans absolutely love him. He is without doubt one of the best midfielders of all time and has won all there is to in the game, and he deserves nothing less.
For now though he has to concentrate on winning the midfield battle for Manchester United, and long may that continue.
