Bastian Schweinsteiger targeted as #1 transfer target by Louis van Gaal

According to the Daily Mail, Bastian Schweinsteiger has been made Manchester United’s #1 summer transfer target. Bayern Munich are prepared to listen to offers for the 29-year old, and its thought he could be available for as little as £10million.

If true, it’d honestly baffle me if we didn’t at least put a bid in for him. Schweinsteiger is one of the best midfielders in world football who is currently in his peak at 29. He can pass the ball, run with it, and also scores a goal or two which is exactly what we need.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola thinks that Schweinsteiger doesn’t fit in his play style and is looking to get him off the wage bill as soon as possible. They’ll almost certainly be other clubs interested in a player of Schweinsteiger’s calibre, but if we could get him it would be a real statement of intent.

  1. Although the prospect of having Bastian Schweinsteiger in our midfield sounds like a dream come true, the value mentioned above is ridiculously low for someone in his prime. Mr Street I would love to hear your reasoning for why he would cost just 10 mil pounds when other sources clearly state he is worth about 35 mil euros? Also I have read the same story in other articles saying he doesn’t fit Guardiola’s system. Honestly I think its absolute nonsense. He boasts of a passing accuracy of 90%. PLays long balls to the wingers just like Paul Scholes did at United. Can score goals and make amazing assists. Why would Die Rotten want to offload a player like him. I’m not judging you in any way but I think this article is just misleading people to read what you would like to see happen when there is no good reason to believe its possible.

  2. he is to old you for someone who is about 6 years younger then at least if they not the right player we can cash them in not players coming to end there careers

  3. Barkley, lallana, Shaw, De Maria, Reus and Hummel s should win us EPL
    De Gea
    Rafa, Jones Hummel s Shaw
    De Maria, Carrick, Barkley, Reus
    Lallana RV Persie
    Subs
Mata Januzaj Rooney, Valencia, Evens, Smalling Evra

  4. Kroos robben Muller now schweinsteiger is there a bayern Munich player United haven’t been linked with. I think van gaal is confused as to which team he’s now managing

  5. what people need to remember is moyes forgot the absolute basics of football. play players to their strengths, and play intelligently,

tactically moyes was completely delusional. out to wing…. 5 players line up against opposition back four and play a cross in. no use of space, no attempts to drag players out of position so a runnner could utilise that new gap, no atempts at all to play football.

5-6 new players is the worst thing a new manager could do. for the brand that is man utd that would look horrific. we already have a world class team, all we need is fresh players in defense to cover the loss of rio & vidic, and evras future replacement.

midfield we just need some central holding class. carrick is not reliable enough. he isnt even in the first squad line up for england!

i would love to se more development of our youth players. zaha has definite potential, and if he does have attitude ssues hopefullly van gaal can sort that out. utd is about deveopment of future players whilst still winning and being great! utd have lost basic common sense in their football and the utilisation of the squad!

i would be more worried if van gaal completely re-did our squad, because a good manager will bring the best out of what we already have, these lads played really well under fergie, and there are soo many youngsters that have incredible potential! so be careful what you wish for, because a million signings is genuinely a very bad sign from our new man in charge!

liverpool have done so well because their attacking tactics have been good in most cases, but shockingly they did not have any idea of how to try break compact defenses… and well defensively they were as solid as an ice cream on a bbq…. but unfortunately that will most likely get worked on for next season.

utd need more faith in youth, but most importantly more common sense when attacking!!! play as a team not individuals!
