Manchester United have consistently been linked with a move for Harry Maguire this summer, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster a struggling defence before the big kick-off next month.
Well yesterday, we covered a story from Sky Sports News in which it was claimed Maguire missed Leicester training, with the player keen on a switch to Old Trafford.
However today, the BBC have downplayed things, claiming that United and Leicester remain apart in the valuation of the 26-year-old as the Red Devils still haven’t met The Foxes’ £90million demand.
Furthermore, the centre-half has now returned to training as normal after missing yesterday’s session with an illness.
It’s annoying because it feels like United are taking one steps forward and then two back in their pursuit of Maguire. If they want him badly enough, the club should just pay up and get the defender at the club as soon as possible.
We’re now just over a week away from the transfer window slamming shut and to enter the season without Maguire at this stage would be a travesty as the club probably haven’t left themselves with enough time to sign a different centre-back.
For what it’s worth, I’m still confident that this deal will get done, it’s just annoying that things are dragging out this much.
