Ben White would consider making a Man United switch this summer.
Back in mid-March, we covered a rumour from Jonathan Shrager, who claimed that Manchester United would be interested in signing Brighton centre-half, Ben White.
After all, United interest in any half-decent centre-back makes total sense, given the lack of quality they have in that position. White is an emerging player in the Premier League who is enjoying his debut season at the highest level.
Now, the Manchester Evening News have managed to get their hands on White’s thoughts in regards to an Old Trafford switch. Apparently, the talented 23-year-old is open to a Manchester United transfer this summer.
As you’d imagine, Brighton are going to dig their heels in over White as they look to keep ahold of one of their prized assets. The player sees himself at a ‘big club like United’ over the next few years. Heck, any ambitious youngster would certainly say as much.
Brighton’s stance on White is clear, they’re reluctant to let him leave, so-much-so that the MEN state he’d cost £35million, maybe more. Personally, this seems cheap, given Brighton wanted £50million to let him go to Leeds United last summer.
Why White would be an astute signing
Premier League experience is massive. White will have a year of that under his belt come this summer and that will serve him brilliantly going forward.
Sure, he may not be the glamour signing like a Raphael Varane or a Kalidou Koulibaly but that’s not what defending is about. White would cover Harry Maguire’s weaknesses pretty well, while I’m fairly certain with proper organisation, this towering duo will no longer struggle with aerial threat because they’re both so tall and good in the air.
Plus, United have always been brilliant at signing younger players and developing their talent. Why not stick with what works…?
