Big boost as Man United confident superstar will sign new five-year deal at club: report

Manchester United fans, relax. Anthony Martial is set to snub interest from European giants including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, in favour of staying at Old Trafford.

That’s according to ESPN, who says that although the Red Devils will trigger a one-year extension in his current contract which expires this season, the club also is ‘confident’ that Martial will put pen to paper on a long-term, five-year deal.

It just goes to show that, all along, the Frenchman’s intentions were to stay at the Theatre of Dreams. His legitimate qualms about wanting to leave the club in the summer were purely about playing time.

Now that he has earned the trust of Jose Mourinho, it looks as though the 23-year-old will remain at United for at least another half-decade, which is huge news.

Martial has been the one shining light in a stagnant attack at the start of this campaign, and those two goals he scored against Chelsea really were superb.

With confidence, I don’t think we have a more clinical attacker within our current squad, and the fact that he hasn’t been playing regular football is criminal. Hopefully, he continues to perform at a high level and in the not too distant future, we’ll see that photo of him all-smiles sitting alongside Mourinho after putting pen to paper.
