The international break is in full flow. It has been a week since Manchester United turned things around against Newcastle United, what a long seven days it has been…
We’re now counting down the minutes until the Red Devils head to Chelsea in next Saturday’s early kick-off and before that game, United have been handed a huge boost.
According to the Manchester Evening News, David de Gea’s camp is optimistic that he’ll sign a new contract at Manchester United. The 27-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer, although the club does have the option to extend it by a further year if they so choose.
The great news about this is that the club apparently have ‘never been more confident’ that De Gea will stay in the long-term. That’s due to the fact that Real Madrid have finally signed a new goalkeeper with Thibaut Courtois heading to the Santiago Bernabeu.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Just pay the man whatever he wants. If any player within that locker room has the credence to demand huge money, it’s big Dave. Get the deal done, let’s ensure he plays for United during his peak years. Honestly, it’s a no-brainer.
