Manchester United Football Club are set to miss out on the signature of Clement Lenglet.
According to Sport, per TEAMTalk, the Frenchman has agreed personal terms with FC Barcelona, and it’s looking likely that he’ll head to the Camp Nou.
It was just a fortnight ago when the Red Devils made a firm approach for the Sevilla man, but it unfortunately looks as though they’ve left it a little too late; which is a real shame as the 23-year-old is immensely talented and he has the potential to go an awfully long way in football.
Apparently, Lenglet is all set to pen a five-year deal in Catalonia, although Sevilla are ensuring that his full €35million (£30.7m) release clause is met. In the modern-day game, that’s an absolute bargain.
I guess it’s now time for Jose Mourinho to turn his attentions elsewhere. United definitely have to bring in a new centre-half this summer, as the current bunch of lads have been nothing short of calamitous at times. Victor Lindelof struggled to adjust, Phil Jones was his usual self and Eric Bailly spent far too long on the treatment table. If I were in charge, I’d be opting for the experienced, ready-made player who can slot right in, but I’m not quite sure who’ll be available…
