Brandon Williams has reiterated his desire to break into the Man United first-team next season.
Manchester United’s 2021/22 season has been an abject failure. One manager has lost his job, another is struggling to get the correct tune out of this poorly assembled squad.
Overpaid players with poor attitudes are running the show at the moment. That simply has to change under Erik ten Hag.
First and foremost it’s about weeding out the dead wood, then replacing them with players who actually want to be here. One young man who has that first-team goal is Brandon Williams.
While on loan at Norwich City, there’s no doubt the young United defender has learned an awful lot. He’s also probably more determined than ever to ensure that he makes it at the highest level.
While speaking to Norwich City’s official matchday programme, the 21-year-old United stlaret has reiterated his desire to play within the Reds’ first-team next season.
Check out what the left-back had to say in full here:
“What I want to do next year is play for Manchester United at left-back and that’s my job,” Williams said while speaking in Norwich City’s OTBC matchday programme, via the Pink Un. “That’s what I’m determined to do because it’s my life and I’ll do anything for that.
“I know I can play in this league, and I know I can get to the top and that’s what I want to do.”
I’ve always been a big Williams fan. First and foremost, he strikes me as someone who wants to wear that badge on his chest with pride. For us fans, that’s the minimum requirement.
When you look at the passion Williams plays with, coupled with the talent he obviously has, there is an opening for him to come back to Old Trafford next season and play regularly.
Luke Shaw is struggling, Alex Telles blatantly isn’t good enough, while Williams continues to improve as a footballer. With United already having loads of areas to strengthen in over the summer, there’s every chance the left-back slot gets overlooked and Williams could be the big winner from that.
I’d be more than content with giving the Englishman a real run in the side. I also believe he’ll fit in nicely with what Erik ten Hag likes to achieve. You heard it here first, Williams could well be involved on a regular basis next season – and I’m all for it!
