Brandon Williams’ rise to fame has happened rather quickly. The budding left-back didn’t even go on pre-season tour over the summer, but the local lad is already proving he’s worth his weight in gold.

After an excellent cameo against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup, which Williams followed up with a Man of the Match performance in his full debut against AZ Alkmaar, the 19-year-old has gone from strength-to-strength.

Now he has been rewarded with a fresh contract at Old Trafford. Sky Sports write that Williams has agreed to terms until 2022, while the club has the option to extend that by a further season if they so choose.

Here he is all-smiles alongside Ole Gunnar Solskaer after putting pen to paper:

With Luke Shaw constantly struggling with injury and Ashley Young getting up there in age, Williams has a serious opportunity to stake his claim and make that starting left-back slot is own.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, I wouldn’t bet against him doing exactly that before this season is over. He’s young, hungry, a willing runner and he does possess a football brain.

Quite frankly, there’s nothing better than watching home-grown talents succeed and Williams’ rise to the first-team has been a pleasure to watch.

Congratulations, Brandon!
