Brandon Williams still wants to leave Man United on loan: report

Brandon Williams is eyeing a loan move away from Manchester United for the upcoming season.

Manchester United’s left-back situation is suddenly a concerning one. With Alex Telles out for at least the first few games and Luke Shaw only making his first appearance in training today, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be left feeling a little threadbare in that area.

Immediately, you’d look to Brandon Williams, who in 2019/20, was simply brilliant for the Baby Faced Assassin. Sadly, for the Harpurhey born defender, minutes would be far harder to come by last campaign.

Now, he wants to find his regular football elsewhere, rather than backing up Shaw at the start of the term.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who suggest that the 50-appearance Manchester United star still wants a loan move away following his lack of playing time for the Reds.

Williams has been pretty important for United during pre-season, with Solskjaer hinting that the Englishman could act as cover for the injured Telles.

However, with Southampton still sniffing around to take Williams on some sort of loan deal, the budding full-back is still keen on moving away and playing week-in-week-out elsewhere.

First and foremost, you have to say fair play to Williams. He is at that stage in his career where regular football is an absolute must and he recognises that.

No longer can Williams sit on the bench and play the odd cup game here or there. If he wants to further his career, a loan move to a Premier League side would be ideal.

The problem for Solskjaer is that he has to put the team first. If that means keeping Williams around until Telles is back then so be it. I’m not sure the player himself will be best-pleased if that’s how it plays out though…
