Manchester United kick off their New Year with a tricky away game against Stoke City. Louis van Gaal will be hoping to continue the current rich vein of form United find themselves in, and with players coming back from injury it’ll only help the cause for a spot in the top four.
Ahead of the game, Steve Bates has given us some early team news, as he reckons Chris Smalling could come in at centre-back for Paddy McNair, and Luke Shaw starting at left-back. There has been a bit of a reshuffle at right-back, with Ashley Young switching over to that side instead of Antonio Valencia who has suffered a knock.
Steve Bates is usually spot on with Manchester United team news, and it’d take a brave man to bet against him being right here.
