Sporting Lisbon have confirmed the sale of Argentine defender Marcos Rojo to Manchester United. The 24-year old will cost Manchester United €20m, and Nani will go to Lisbon on a season-long loan. The deal will be paid in three installments, €10m up front, €5m in December and €5m next July.
Sporting Lisbon will spend €9m of their fee on upgrading the ‘Club Pavilion’, and will receive 20% of any future fee, if Manchester United sell Marcos Rojo for more than €23m.
Marcos Rojo is predominantly a centre-back, but as shown with his native Argentina, he can also play left-back to a high enough level. He already has twenty-eight international caps to his name, and featured in FIFA’s World Cup Team of the Tournament.
