BREAKING: Sporting Lisbon confirm Marcos Rojo sale to Manchester United

Sporting Lisbon have confirmed the sale of Argentine defender Marcos Rojo to Manchester United. The 24-year old will cost Manchester United €20m, and Nani will go to Lisbon on a season-long loan. The deal will be paid in three installments, €10m up front, €5m in December and €5m next July.

Sporting Lisbon will spend €9m of their fee on upgrading the ‘Club Pavilion’, and will receive 20% of any future fee, if Manchester United sell Marcos Rojo for more than €23m.

Marcos Rojo is predominantly a centre-back, but as shown with his native Argentina, he can also play left-back to a high enough level. He already has twenty-eight international caps to his name, and featured in FIFA’s World Cup Team of the Tournament.

An announcement from Manchester United is expected imminently, where we should learn more details about the contract.
