Bruno Fernandes’ agent flies to England to hear Man United’s proposal: report

Manchester United lost both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera over the last six months, neither have been replaced – Paul Pogba could soon be on his way out, too…

As you’d imagine, the 20-time Premier League champions have been linked with midfielders aplenty during the current transfer window. The name that’s appearing most often is Bruno Fernandes.

According to Thursday’s edition of Correio da Manha, translated via Sport Witness, Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, has flown to England to hear both the proposals from both United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Apparently, Sporting president Frederico Varandas has told Pinho to ‘accelerate the process’ and it seems that’s what the agent is trying to do.

Fernandes would be a brilliant signing and dare I say, potential Paul Pogba replacement. The prolific midfielder scored 32 goals across all competitions in the 2018/19 campaign, while also tacking on 18 assists in the process.

Aged just 24 there is room for improvement there from Fernandes, although he certainly wouldn’t come cheap. A report from A Bola we covered a few weeks ago said the fee would be at around the £71million mark.

One thing is for certain – United need to press on with transfers (both incoming and outgoing) and strengthen this squad before the team jet out on pre-season tour next month. Signing Fernandes would be a real statement of intent, particularly without Champions League football on the table…
