Club captain Bruno Fernandes has confirmed his wish to stay at Man United, after meeting with the new owners.

Manchester United Football Club are trending in a different direction. After the best part of twenty years under Glazer ownership, there’s a new face in charge of football operations; Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The Failsworth-born-businessman has bought a 25% stake in the club recently, via his INEOS company. Sir Dave Brailsford has been given a position at the club. No doubt we’ll see a serious structural overhaul taking place – both on and off the field.

One man who wants to stick around is Bruno Fernandes, with the important United star confirming his intention to stay, after meeting with the new owners.

Bruno, who is now club captain, has been in Manchester for four years. His commitment to the cause has been there for all to see from day one. This latest quote is just another example of that.

Check out what the midfielder said in full here:

“I’ve already had a meeting with the new owners. They want to meet with the players and have already done so individually, and that’s exactly the message I passed on. I want to stay here, I want to be part of a project that has feet, legs, torso and head, everything we need to be able to compete with Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, who are the clubs that have been in the best shape.” Fernandes said to A Bola, per Sport Witness.

Bruno is loved among the Old Trafford terraces. We appreciate the effort, intensity and willingness to put his body on the line for the badge on his chest. Yes, the goals and assists have somewhat dried up this term, but many are struggling this term. That’s not just a Fernandes issue.

He’s the heartbeat of our midfield. He leads the press. He can pick out those killer passes, while also having the ability to create a goal out of absolutely nothing. United are a better team with him in it. There’s absolutely no doubt about that.

This commitment and leadership is exactly what you want from a captain. He’s setting the tone for the rest of the squad to follow.
