Ah yes, it’s time for the Bruno Fernandes daily, as Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for the midfielder.
The latest update we covered came from Correio de Manha, in which it was stated that Fernandes was remaining ‘calm’ about his future, as the player himself fully expected the move to happen.
Well today, the Manchester Evening News wrote that the 24-year-old has met with his agent amid interest from the Red Devils. Apparently, the player wanted to touch base with Miguel Pinho (agent) as he returned to Lisbon for the start of pre-season training.
Although there have been reports stating otherwise, the MEN state that United are ‘considering a move’ for the prolific midfielder who scored 32 goals across all competitions last season.
Honestly, I’m getting bored of stating this myself, but United need to sign at least two midfielders this summer. The Reds are yet to replace both Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini, and Paul Pogba may yet follow suit.
Fernandes is a good player but there’s no way of knowing how he’ll fare in the Premier League. Signing the Portuguese would be a risk, make no mistake about it, and an expensive one at that.
However, United’s time is running out pretty quickly. There’s still a few weeks left in the transfer window but you feel the club still need at least two or three big signings if they stand any chance at competing in the business end of major competitions.
