Manchester United dropped down to seventh in the Premier League table this weekend, after dropping points for the third top-flight game in succession.
It wasn’t all bad news for the Old Trafford club, mind, with a debut handed to Portuguese hot-shot, Bruno Fernandes. Reds fans flocked to the Theatre of Dreams in anticipation of watching their new man – who didn’t disappoint.
In what was a poor outing for United, Fernandes was the bright-spark. At times, the 25-year-old was the sole creative spark within the team. He tried to make things happen by shooting, passing and moving. Unfortunately, Fernandes couldn’t do it all on his own.
For his display, though, Fernandes was the sole United star named in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week – and rightly so, too…

As expected, the United fans were delighted with their new man in action. However, it does show how dire the situation is at Old Trafford right now…
What I found most concerning was the lack of leadership. It was Fernandes who was trying to dictate and direct orders at his teammates despite only arriving at the club two days prior. The good news is that we finally have some personality and on-field general, though.
Fernandes completed the third-most passes in the Premier League this weekend, only behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Fernandinho – which showed how much United tried to get their new man into the game. Going forward, you’d hope that these numbers will only increase.
He deserves his spot in the team, now Fernandes has a week or so to adjust and adapt to life in Manchester before playing a vital part in our season run-in…
