Bruno Fernandes is set to be absent when Man United take on Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.

Manchester United have a real chance to put genuine distance between themselves and Tottenham Hotspur in the top four race tomorrow. Win and the Red Devils are looking great. Lose, however, and Spurs find themselves right back in it.

Ahead of the game, United have been sweating on the fitness of Bruno Fernandes. Initially, it was thought that the man from Portugal was wearing a protective boot as a precaution. However, the problem is seemingly more severe than first feared.

According to the Daily Mirror, the key star is ‘set to miss’ United vs Tottenham tomorrow due to the injury. He’s also a doubt for another crunch match against Aston Villa this coming weekend…

The timing of this news could not be worse. Bruno plodded on injured for the best part of an hour against Brighton at the weekend. Although you have to admire his dedication and desire to win, you can’t help but feel he’s made the problem worse as a result.

Now, he could be missing for United’s two most important fixtures left in the Premier League season.

The fact that he’s only doubtful for the Villa game this weekend leads us to believe that the problem isn’t anything long term, so that is some good news…

What’s crazy is that this is the first game Bruno Fernandes will have missed in his career through injury. That’s crazy when you consider he is 28 years old. Availability is reliability.

Hopefully, Bruno is resting up at home and it won’t be too long before he’s back out on the field. We’re absolutely going to need him.
