Bruno Fernandes was spotted limping as he left the stadium, as Man United booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-final.
Manchester United booked their place in the last eight of the FA Cup. Just about. It was not pretty, though Erik ten Hag’s side did manage to get the job done. They just about shaded it away at Nottingham Forest, booking a date with Liverpool at home as a result.
Bruno Fernandes was a major doubt for the game before it kicked off, with Erik ten Hag confirming as much the day before the tie. For a man who is yet to miss a United game through injury, it’s fair to say the concerns were real.
Well, the Portugal international did manage to fight through the pain to play the full ninety minutes, eventually contributing to the winning goal with a clever free-kick. It was clear throughout the evening he was not 100% right.
It’s no surprise then, to learn that the United star was spotted limping after the game, with Chris Wheeler confirming the worrying news ahead of the Manchester derby this Sunday.

Bruno is a tough cookie. Ten Hag did confirm after the game that it was a ‘serious’ injury for the attacking midfielder, but the fact that he played is major credit to his character and keenness to fight for the badge on his chest.
I just wonder whether sometimes the player needs to be protected from himself. Imagine if we lose our biggest creative force for a longer period? It’d practically be the end of our season…
The problem now is that Bruno will likely remain a massive doubt for the derby game. Knowing his character, he’ll likely force himself to get out there once again, but this is another level up. City will run him ragged for 90 minutes due to their intensity. I would have severe concerns about his ability to last 90 minutes in that environment.
