Bruno Fernandes has rejected a contract offer from Man United – and also told them to wait until the summer to open discussions again…
Manchester United’s best signing over the last few years, without question, has been Bruno Fernandes.
The acquisition of the Portuguese star has turned this side into one that is more than capable of winning any match due to his on-ball quality. Goals, assists, leadership, Bruno has instilled a winning mentality into that squad – though there’s still work to do.
It’s no surprise to hear then, that United are looking to tie the attacker down to a new contract. After all, this club loves to protect their asset.
However, according The Athletic, the 27-year-old star has snubbed a contract offer in the Autumn.
On top of that, talks are now not expected to resume until the summer. At which point, United’s position in regards to Champions League qualification will be clear.
It’s understood that Bruno wants parity with United’s top earners in regards to what he’s paid – which is more than fair, given he’s been our best player ever since arriving at the club from Sporting Lisbon.
I just hope that over the summer, whatever happens this season, Bruno is willing to put pen on paper. If we’re not in the Champions League next term, there are no guarantees he’ll agree to a new deal – though there is still plenty of time left to run on his current agreement at the club.
He’s the sort of player we should be building our future around. Bruno always fights for the badge on his chest and plays with genuine pride. Why not reward that? It does seem like United are trying to do that, mind.
