Carrick pulls out of England squad

32-Year old central midfielder Michael Carrick has pulled out of Roy Hodgson’s latest England squad due to an eye infection. This could be a cause for concern for his club, as United are set to begin their title defence on Saturday, with Carrick one of the central figures.

Michael Carrick has been capped for England 29 times, and was widely expected to start alongside fellow United midfielder, Tom Cleverley.

There are plenty other United players in action tonight, with Wayne Rooney expected to feature as the Three Lions take on Scotland.
