Casemiro injury fears eased, midfielder back in Brazil training

Casemiro injury worries have been eased somewhat, with the man from Brazil back in training.

Earlier this week, Manchester United were dealt yet another injury blow, as midfielder Casemiro picked up a problem while playing for Brazil against Venezuela.

Treatment table woes just sums up the Red Devils’ season so far. Just when it feels like the club are starting to welcome some players back, more injury problems are suffered. It’s a truly sad state of affairs at Old Trafford right now.

Losing Casemiro for any prolonged period of time would have been another huge loss. However, those injury fears have been eased, with the key man back in training after suffering the problem. Thankfully, the ex-Real Madrid man only missed a few days of training.

Whether he’s fit enough to take on Uruguay later this evening is another question entirely. I’d like to think the Brazil boss will approach it with caution, not throwing Casemiro in there if he’s not feeling 100%.

At the end of the day, it’s United that pay his wages and if they’re risking further injury to the midfielder, it’d create friction between the two parties. You also have to factor in the lengthy travel time back from Brazil for Casemiro, with Ten Hag probably already thinking about resting him for the game this weekend anyway.

Although he hasn’t been at his best to start this campaign, he’s still among the first names on the team sheet in our opinion. So I’d hope that we’ll see him back available for selection sooner rather than later.

Do you think Casemiro will be fit enough to start vs Sheffield United this weekend? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
