Centre-back edging towards Man United move as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster defence: report

Manchester United Football Club are leading the charge to sign Yerry Mina this summer, with the Red Devils closer to acquiring the Colombian than any other club.

That’s according to RMC Sport, with the report adding that Jose Mourinho’s men have edged in front of Everton in the chase to land the World Cup star.

Apparently, Mina is odds-on to make an Old Trafford switch, and a deal could be completed for as little as €30million (£26.7m); which is an absolute bargain in this day in age.

It’s an odd situation. Obviously, Mina’s only been at FC Barcelona for six months, but the fans are already calling for his head. Perhaps his impressive summer with Colombia changed their viewpoint somewhat, but maybe the damage has already been done.

Look, United need a new centre-back, but I’d be concerned if they signed Mina. They’ve been chasing an experience defender all summer, and bringing in the 23-year-old would absolutely reek of desperation in my opinion.

With time running out, United have to do something. However, it’s more important to ensure they’re making calculated transfer decisions rather than just spending to appease the fans.
