According to the Daily Star, Manchester United’s number one transfer target is now Cesc Fabregas, after any deal for Toni Kroos went flat. Fabregas, 27, is becoming increasingly frustrated with life at Barcelona, and the club are willing to sell him if the price is right.
After making the switch from Arsenal to Barcelona for a huge £35million transfer fee in 2011, things haven’t quite worked out for the attacking midfielder. He was linked with a move away from the Nou Camp last summer, and he was in fact subject to a couple of rejected bids from Manchester United.
We could be in for more of the same this summer too, because although Barcelona are willing to sell him for the right price, I’d be very surprised if Arsenal don’t challenge us for his signature. Fabregas spent seven years at Arsenal, making them instant favourites – especially as they have Champions League football on offer.
I’d also be shocked if Arsenal don’t have some first-refusal clause on Fabregas, to stop him from coming to another English club.
