Cesc Fabregas to leave Barca and return to England with Manchester United interested

Earlier today Barcelona’s president said that the Catalan side would not be selling Cesc Fabregas for any amount of money, and he’d be staying at the Camp Nou. However today, Sky Sports News have suggested that Fabregas will leave Barcelona, and a return to the Premier League is likely.

It is understood that Fabregas has a £30million release clause written into his contract, and the 27-year old has been offered to four Premier League clubs – including Manchester United.

It was widely reported that United were in for Fabregas last summer, so I’d be baffled if we didn’t go back in for him this year. Then you have his old side Arsenal, who’ll almost certainly look at the possibility of bringing their former hero back to the Emirates.

Perhaps surprisingly, Liverpool are current favourites for his signature if you believe what you read in the papers, and their interest would certainly be justified as Adam Lallana is believed to cost them £25million – just £5m less than the transfer fee of Fabregas.

At 27, Fabregas is approaching his peak and he’ll certainly be looking for a club that can offer him starting berths on a regular basis. Arsenal and Liverpool both have an abundance of midfielders, whereas United are struggling for them. Who knows, if Van Gaal wants him, I certainly think we’ll have a chance at luring him to Old Trafford.
