How good does it feel to have our trophy back? The lads wrapped it up in style last night after an extremely quick start and an excellent first half of football. Robin van Persie stole the show with a superb hat-trick, with his second goal amongst the contenders for goal of the season.
The manner in which we lost the title to City last season has certainly helped us in the long run, especially the younger players like Jones and De Gea who were so close to winning their first title and had it snatched away at the last minute – This moment will be extra special for them.
Fergie reacted to the defeat last season by bringing in the likes of Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa and you could tell how badly he wanted our title back, he was hungry for it from the first whistle all the way back in August, his passion is still there and at the tender age of 71, he doesn’t look like a manager who is about to pack it in.
What can you say about Van Persie? He just gets United. You can tell how much he is enjoying his football at the moment and that hat-trick last night summed up his season perfectly – the big man for the big occasions. He has certainly given us that extra firepower needed this season and remarkably its his first league title of his career, hopefully we can offer him a few more before he retires!
For now its back to the training ground for the lads, and lets go to the Emirates and keep on winning our remaining games in the hope of breaking a few records in the process. Roll on Swansea at home when the lads get their hands on the big trophy!
