There could still be hope for Man United in the race to sign Eduardo Camavinga this summer…
You’d imagine that if Manchester United are to make any further signings this summer, it’d be in one of two areas; right-back or central midfield.
One player the Old Trafford club have been consistently linked with a move for this summer is Rennes midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga. The young man is an emerging star coming out of France and there’s every chance he could be available for transfer this summer.
According to the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano ‘there are chances’ the United target will leave his current club this summer.
Apparently, the Frenchman will not be signing a new long-term deal with Rennes, who are now open to selling the midfielder for a fee of around £30m (€35m).
For anyone who watched the action this weekend, United looked particularly weak in midfield in the absence of Scott McTominay. It’s clear that Nemanja Matic is on his last legs, while Fred continues to be hit and miss.
There’s no denying Camavinga’s talent. This is a young man who already plays with a maturity way beyond his years and in the long-term, he’d improve any side in world football.
If there’s absolutely any chance United can get this deal done, they should push pretty hard. The £30m fee is an absolute bargain, though I’d imagine the Red Devils would face pretty stiff competition from top European clubs to secure this move.
Camavinga is someone who could give the eventual buyer a decade-worth of top-class service and, if Paul Pogba does walk away for free next summer, we could already have the ready-made replacement at the club in this young man.
Obviously, time in the window is winding down somewhat quickly so United cannot afford to hang around.
