Man United youngster, Charlie Savage, is fetching in attention from clubs in the lower leagues over a loan move.
The pre-season was absolutely one full of learning for the whole Manchester United squad. Erik ten Hag’s ways aren’t easy to adapt to, with the regular first-teamers slowly but surely finding their feet in this new system.
As is always the case under new management, some players flourish, others fade away. The young emerging stars at the club often are the ones that benefit most.
Take Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage in midfield for example. From minute one, the pair looked right at home within that United XI, playing a composed brand of football that was absolutely easy on the eye.
Iqbal is set to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his place within the first-team, or so it seems. Well, Savage is seemingly to take a different route.
It’s the Daily Mail with the claim, who suggest that the United youngster would find ‘opportunities limited’ if he were to remain with the Reds.
However, don’t fret, as Savage is attracting loan interest aplenty. Clubs in both the Championship and League One are all keen on taking the midfielder for the 2022/23 season, while there’s a view a successful loan spell could leave Savage in a great position upon his return to United next summer.
As is always the case, it’s about playing regularly. If Savage moves to a club where he’s just going to sit on the bench and play five minutes here or there, then there’s absolutely zero point in sanctioning the move. However, if the young Englishman is given starts every single week, he’ll no doubt grow as a footballer and come back to United in a very strong spot.
A lower end Championship side or a top tier League One club feels like his best chance of first-team starts.
