Man United youngster, Charlie Savage, is undergoing a medical ahead of a loan move away for the remainder of the season.
During Manchester United’s pre-season tour, Erik ten Hag was more than willing to give young players minutes. The Dutch boss offered playing time to then-little-known midfielder, Charlie Savage.
The son of ex-Red Robbie, showed potential aplenty, particularly when playing alongside his Pal, Zidane Iqbal.
However, since the season has kicked off, we’ve not seen Savage in action. The young midfielder is clearly too good for reserve level football, so a loan move away always felt like the best option.
Well, according to Football Insider, that medical is now underway (it’s probably been complete at this point). The United youngster is set to head out on loan for the rest of the term. He’s off to League One side, Forest Green Rovers.
Apparently, they’re putting the ‘finishing touches’ on a transfer for Savage, with the Wales u21 international set to bolster their midfield for the 2022/23 term.
As things stand, Forest Green Rovers are dead last in League One. Clearly, they need a bit of help in several key areas, among them is midfield.
Savage will be looking to break into their starting line-up pretty swiftly, and begin to show the footballing world exactly what he’s capable of.
The young man will not set the world alight with bucketloads of goals and assists, instead, he’ll bring a calmness to the Forest Green Rovers midfield. An accurate passer, a cool head under pressure and someone who can dictate the play.
Hopefully, this experience proves to be a positive one for the young man, who’ll come back to United in a far better position this summer.
