Chelsea have joined a long list of clubs who are interested in signing Manchester United forward Anthony Martial this summer.
That’s according to The Guardian, who adds that the Stamford Bridge club would make a move for the Frenchman if he wants to leave Old Trafford.
Martial has largely been left frustrated since the years turn, particularly following Alexis Sanchez’s arrival. The former AS Monaco man has found his playing time extremely limited, having to settle for minutes off the substitutes bench; which was always going to happen when Jose Mourinho made a move for Sanchez.
Then you have to factor in that Mourinho has always preferred Marcus Rashford to Martial. At best, United’s #11 is third in the pecking order which is a huge cause for concern when you consider his immense talents.
Unfortunately, it would be typical Mourinho if Martial were sold, but honestly, I don’t see any other outcome at this point in time. There just isn’t enough space in the squad to give his talents the minutes they deserve and sorry, but if it were a direct choice between him and Rashford, I’m taking the Mancunian every single time.
Although I understand why Chelsea are interested, I’d be shocked if United let Martial leave to a Premier League rival. Instead, I’d fully expect him to be sold abroad.
