As speculation about his Manchester United future rumbles on, Chelsea will make one final bid for Wayne Rooney according to the Mirror. The striker looks all set to feature against the side who want his signature on Monday night, but that won’t stop Blues boss Jose Mourinho making one final attempt to get their #1 transfer target.
The bid is believed to be a massive £40m, which is certainly more in the region of Wayne Rooney’s current worth, and a bid that will surely test United’s resolve. The club have always remained firm on their stance with Rooney, and Moyes has regularly reiterated the 27-year old isn’t for sale.
Speculation about Juan Mata’s future has also made the back pages recently, with many believing Jose isn’t keen on the superb Spaniard. Leading the tabloids to suggest that both Rooney and Mata could be used in a potential swap deal. You could see why the deal makes sense, with Rooney being unhappy at United and Chelsea possess no fewer than 10 players similar to Juan Mata.
The best thing for United surely has to be to keep hold of Wayne Rooney. On his day he is up there amongst the best in the league and definitely our most influential player, selling him to Chelsea would be football suicide. If we can get Rooney happy again, that’d certainly boost our title chances.
