Chris Smalling admits worries about Manchester United future

Manchester United Football Club have relied heavily on Chris Smalling this term, with the 26-year old really progressing over the last twelve months. He met the media, and answered a whole host of questions about his injury situation, and other transfers in general.

Smalling was asked whether it concerns him when United are linked with big-money moves for players, especially Sergio Ramos over the summer. He replied:

“When you come to Man Utd, in every transfer window, there are always players linked with the club.”

“It keeps you on your toes. You can’t rest on 6 months of good performances as there is always another player to take your place.”

This is the best mindset to have, too. If you rest on you’re laurels and become comfortable in you’re surroundings, thats when mistakes start leaking into you’re game.

Chris Smalling is the consummate professional and that has been evident this season. He has hardly put a foot wrong and managed to keep himself fit. Now he is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and he still has plenty of time to further develop.
