Christian Eriksen isn’t having the best time at Man United due to a lack of playing time, the midfielder has admitted.

Manchester United Football Club have unearthed an absolute gem in the form of Kobbie Mainoo. The Englishman, who has now just earned his first call-up to the Three Lions senior squad, is the talk of the town. Rightly so, too.

Mainoo is now among the first names on the team sheet. He brings a composure and calmness to a midfield region that lacked it before he started matches with regularity. As a result, though, it has meant fewer minutes to some squad members. Among them, Christian Eriksen.

The Dane, who was a regular starter last season, has struggled to break into the side recently. The 32-year-old has started just nine league games, being subbed off in seven of them. Now, he has spoken out about what is unfolding.

The United man has admitted he is ‘unhappy with his current situation due to a lack of playing time, with Eriksen talking to the manager about it. Erik ten Hag would respond by stating that the aforementioned Mainoo, among others, is in good form, hence they’re not likely to be dropped anytime soon.

Check out what Christian Eriksen had to say in full here:

I have previously stated that I am not satisfied with not playing, but it’s not something that keeps me up at night,’ said Eriksen to Tipsbladet, per the Daily Mail.

‘I have had a conversation with Erik about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible, but I am available and need to be available for the team, which I am and always will be.

Eriksen has been an excellent servant over the last eighteen months or so. United would not have won the Carabao Cup and finished inside the top four without his on-ball quality. However, he was always going to be a stop-gap addition for this Ten Hag side, largely due to his age.

I’d love to keep Eriksen around as someone who can come in and start as and when needed, though the fact that there has been a drastic reduction in games due to the club’s European exit has made it that little bit more difficult.

You have to admire Eriksen’s desire and drive to still be starting games week-in-week-out at this stage of his career and if he wants to move on, then United should absolutely respect his wishes.
