Christian Eriksen could well be back in the Man United squad this weekend.
Manchester United’s squad has largely been in decent shape this season, though recently, the injuries have started to pile up. That can be attributed to multiple games over short spaces of time.
Perhaps an underrated injury loss was Christian Eriksen. The Dane often went quietly about his job when on the field, though his importance to the team dynamic cannot be denied. We’re a better team with him in it.
His experience, technical ability, passing range and the added bonus of chipping in with the odd goal is vital. Since he was injured against Reading in the FA Cup, United have had far less control in midfield.
Well, we’re pleased to report that he is on the mend. Although he’s only been in team training for a couple of days, the gaffer has refused to rule him out of making a comeback against Everton this weekend.
Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here:
“We will see. We see it from day to day.” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.
“He is progressing. He is now back only this week in team training tomorrow [Thursday] and the day after tomorrow [Friday]. We have two sessions. After that, we will decide if he is back in the squad again.”
Obviously, nobody is expecting Eriksen to come in and start this game at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime, though having him on the substitutes bench will be a welcome boost.
It offers the gaffer an extra body in midfield – an area where we’ve been struggling due to Casemiro’s suspension and some niggling injuries.
Sure, it may take a few weeks for Eriksen to get fully up to speed, though having him fully available for the end of season run-in is going to be huge as he allows for more tactical flexibility and rotation.
