Man United have been dealt some bad news in pursuit of Christian Eriksen.

Just yesterday, we covered a claim that made us feel like the frontrunners in pursuit of Christian Eriksen. Tottenham Hotspur didn’t seem as interested as initially thought, leaving Manchester United as the leaders of the chase.

Well, less than 24 hours later and we’re sadly far less confident. That’s just how quickly things can change in the transfer market.

The story comes from The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson, who is normally bang on the money when it comes to United transfer news. He deals United a blow in pursuit of the 30-year-old, claiming that Eriksen favours two other destinations; either a Spurs return or a Brentford stay.

Again, it just goes back to how far United have fallen over the last few years. A move to White Hart Lane I would fully understand. After all, Antonio Conte’s side have Champions League football on the table, while Eriksen has a history with the London club.

Losing out to Brentford though, really sticks the knife in. I understand that they gave Eriksen his chance following that tragic cardiac arrest. However, United are a far bigger club with plenty more to offer the Dane.

Perhaps it’s a loyalty thing, perhaps it’s a living in London thing. Either way, it just shows us all that United are no longer the powerhouse they once were – with Erik ten Hag having some way to go to get us back to the top of the pyramid.

All that said, I still maintain that Eriksen would be a class piece of business if the Old Trafford club could somehow still get it done.

Do you think a Man United move for Christian Eriksen would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. Why is Man.Utd always beaten with games and transfers inspite of having a new coach?
Everyone else are trying to close in on the transfers but Man.Utd still slow.
Are we going to really see a change or starting with a little difference with some bit of good news not the disappointing news the fans took for a long time?
