Christian Eriksen will remain a Man United player until at least the summer, amid transfer talks…
A few days ago, we covered a claim which suggested that Christian Eriksen could still leave the club, as he was attracting interest from Turkish side Galatasaray. Their transfer window does not shut until Friday, hence, a move was possible.
The Dane, who has fallen out of the starting line-up due to both injury and the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, could have been open to the move due to the fact that his playing time had decreased.
However, those rumours have been quashed, with Sky Sports News claiming that the United star is set for a stay with the Reds, until at least the summer, despite those Galatasaray stories.
The fact that there’s a possibility he could leave in the summer is interesting. It leads me to believe that perhaps Eriksen has been deemed surplus to requirements at United. It would make sense, with Mason Mount now at the club, while Mainoo is only expected to improve.
Eriksen has been an excellent servant over the last couple of years. He’s had some extremely positive moments during United’s time of need and I’ll always view this free transfer as a positive one.
Sadly, injuries have caught up with him this term. Possibly that’s due to the fact that he’s now getting a little older. However, after everything he’s been through, to still be playing at the highest level is a truly incredible achievement. He could never kick a ball again and we’d all have to marvel at his mental strength and toughness to come back from where he has been.
