Christian Eriksen is set to make a decision on his future shortly, amid strong interest from Man United.
With many gaps in the current squad, it makes sense for Manchester United to be linked with so many names already this summer. In fact, we’re lead to believe 100 players have been mentioned in the media in regards to a potential Reds switch.
One of the players most-mentioned is Christian Eriksen. The Dane, who spent six months with Brentford following a cardiac arrest, is a free agent this summer. He’s currently weighing up options.
It’s well documented by reliable sources that United have offered a deal to Eriksen, though we’re unsure as to whether the player fancies an Old Trafford switch this summer.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the United target is set to make a decision soon, with that choice ‘getting closer’. Apparently, Eriksen is going to let his agent know of his plans in the next hours/days.
Romano adds that Eriksen has ‘many proposals’ on the table, with Brentford still in the running. It does look as though Spurs are out of the race, mind.
I guess the fact that Brentford still have a shot at landing a player Manchester United are interested in shows us all how far we’ve fallen recently.
A few years ago, this would have been a no brainier for Eriksen, despite the sentimental value that Brentford can offer the 30-year-old attacking midfielder.
That said, I still maintain the opinion that Eriksen would be an astute piece of business if the Reds could somehow get it done.
Eriksen would be coming in as a free agent, while it’s likely his wage demands aren’t too ridiculous either.
The attacking midfielder would bring some much-needed experience into a youthful-looking United squad that could probably do with a few wiser players being added to it.
I guess the only concern for Eriksen is that he wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter every single week – which could explain why he’s having second thoughts about making this move.
