Christian Eriksen has spoken to the media about playing in many different positions for Man United.

Manchester United made six signings over the summer, as the Old Trafford club began to overhaul their squad into one that better fits Erik ten Hag’s style.

The cheapest addition (and perhaps the early frontrunner) was Christian Eriksen. The Dane was signed on a free transfer following the expiry of his Brentford contract.

Everyone knew he’d improve this United squad. Though I think it’s fair to say nobody expected him to be this good.

Eriksen has conducted play from midfield like an absolute magician. Dictating the pace, picking the pinpoint passes and working with both the attackers and defensive midfielders. He’s been absolutely sublime.

We can’t forget his individual struggles in the game against Brentford, but since then, Eriksen has been nigh-on perfect.

Now, while speaking to the media, the United star has spoken out about playing in a variety of different spots, admitting that his current number eight role suits him ‘very well’.

Check out what Eriksen said about playing in multiple positions for Man United:

During that period we were probably searching – also for my own part,” Eriksen told Politiken, via Sport Witness, on the two opening defeats against Brighton and Brentford.

“I played many different positions in a very short time. First a little striker and then down in defensive midfield. In recent matches, I have played as an 8, and it suits me very well. It’s great that we’ve come back on top with wins, which have been good for us and created a bit of confidence.”

It’s absolutely a small sample size, but Eriksen has been great. Dare I say an upgrade on Paul Pogba…? I think so…

He’s just a better fit for what Ten Hag wants to achieve. Eriksen presses, works hard defensively and we all know what he can do when going forward. He keeps it simple when that’s what’s required, but also has that eye for making the defence-splitting, killer pass.

You also have to factor in Eriksen’s experience and know-how. This guy has been such a calming influence on a midfield that last season played so frantically and rushed.

Hopefully, Eriksen can keep this form up because he has been an absolute joy to watch.
