Classy defender gutted that proposed move to Manchester United falls through: report

Former Manchester United defender Michael Keane has been left gutted, after his proposed move back to Old Trafford has fallen through. That’s according to the Daily Mirror, who say that the 24-year-old was led to believe that he was Jose Mourinho’s number one defensive target.

Obviously, a move for Victor Lindelof has since been pushed through, which all-but ends any chance of Mourinho making a move for another centre-back.

After the rumours of Michael Keane potentially returning surfaced, the player couldn’t have helped himself but get excited about the prospect of returning back to the club where it all began.

But now, it is looking extremely unlikely that an Old Trafford reunion is on the cards. However, that shouldn’t get him down. It doesn’t take away from what a brilliantly talented footballer Keane is – and you have to remember that he was brilliant for Burnley last year. So-much-so that he earned himself England caps which is something to be supremely proud of.

If he keeps up these levels of performances, I’m sure that he will get his big move soon, because he is so clearly good enough to perform at the highest level week-in-week-out. Will that be back at United? Who knows, but probably not for another year at the very least.
