Real Betis made a last-minute approach to sign Christian Eriksen from Man United, though no agreement was reached.
For what it’s worth, I actually think Manchester United did a pretty decent job at clearing out some dead wood from the squad this summer. INEOS deserve credit for raising funds by letting go of the likes of Donny van de Beek, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial.
Erik ten Hag will be feeling good about the shape of the squad for the 2024/25 campaign, though there could have been one fewer body in there if Real Betis’ late move for Christian Eriksen went through.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish side made a last-minute approach to United over the Dane. However, there was ‘no chance’ for a move to go through, with ‘no agreement’ reached on the player and club side.
There were also whispers of a potential move back to Ajax for the out-of-favour United star, who hasn’t featured at the start of this season for the Red Devils. That move obviously didn’t happen either, as no formal bid was made.

No chance for move as there was no agreement on player and club side, but Betis tried.

Eriksen’s situation is an interesting one. He no longer has the legs or energy to compete at the highest level for 90 minutes, though he still has that on-ball quality that United could use.
With Mason Mount now injured for the next month and Scott McTominay no longer at the club, there’s a very good chance that Eriksen sees a decent amount of minutes – particularly as the Reds are competing on multiple fronts.
The ex-Spurs man is a consummate professional and even though he’ll be disappointed to not be starting every single week, he will always give it his all for the badge on his chest.
