Cody Gakpo is ready to move to Man United, if the Reds firm up their interest with an offer to PSV.
Manchester United Football Club looked good against Liverpool last night, though this is just the start.
Erik ten Hag still needs further signings if this squad is to compete at the highest level week-in-week-out. Big money has to be spent by the powers that be in an effort to force us back into the Premier League’s top four.
A new winger is an absolute must. Antony is the name that Ten Hag has spent a lot of time chasing, though that pursuit has been unsuccessful thus far.
We’re rapidly approaching the end of the window, meaning alternatives have to be looked at. PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo is one of those options.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has given us an update in that potential pursuit. Apparently, the 23-year-old ‘would be prepared’ to accept an offer from United – in case they submit an official proposal to PSV Eindhoven in the next few days.
Gakpo and his agents are ‘waiting’ for the move, though it seems as though for now, Antony remains the priority.
It makes sense that the Brazilian is seen as the ideal candidate, due to the fact that Antony and Ten Hag have already worked together with great success at Ajax.
Whether or not the Eredivisie club are willing to part with one of their prized assets remains to be seen.
As for Gakpo, he is the Dutch Footballer of the Year for a reason. This young man can play. Ten Hag has shown a real preference to buy from the Dutch league, as he feels comfortable with buying players from there.
I’d assume Gakpo would be significantly cheaper than Antony, though don’t keep the player waiting too long…
