‘Confidence’ that Dean Henderson will seal Forest loan move this week

Dean Henderson is all set to join Nottingham Forest on loan this week.

Over the last week or so, the whispers linking Dean Henderson with a Manchester United exit on loan have been growing. Those stories have been conflicting in regards to whether or not there would be an option for Nottingham Forest to buy outright.

The English shot-stopper spent the large majority of last season rooted to the substitutes bench, failing to make a single Premier League appearance in 2021/22.

Now we’ve been given an update in the saga and it comes from the usually reliable Jonathan Shrager.

According to Shrager, there is ‘a confidence’ that the deal to send Henderson on loan to Forest will be completed this week. The good news is that there is no option to buy, meaning Henderson will come back to United next summer.

I suddenly feel far happier now that I know there is no option to buy outright. I’ve said it numerous times but I really do believe that Henderson is the perfect player for Erik ten Hag’s style of football.

The Dutchman loves those players who can pass the ball out from the back and Hendo is way better with his feet than David de Gea is – no disrespect intended.

In an ideal world, Henderson would have been given the chance to impress on pre-season tour, though replacing a player who has just won his fifth Manchester United Player of the Year award would have been a bold call to make.

Either way, this is a great opportunity to give Henderson the regular playing time he wants, with a view to installing him as the number one in a year or two.
