Despite the fact that Manchester United had the opportunity to win their Champions League group, the Red Devils still managed to progress into the last sixteen.
Finishing as runner-up always meant that a tougher draw was extremely likely and that’s exactly what we’ve been given.
The draw was made at UEFA’s Switzerland headquarters earlier today, with the Red Devils’ name coming out of the hat, alongside French giants, Paris Saint-Germain.
Sure, I think we all would have preferred a two-legged tie against FC Porto, but this presents United with an opportunity to test themselves against the very best.
For matchgoing fans like myself, I’m delighted that we’ll get to see the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe run out at Old Trafford, and it could be one of those famous atmospheric nights upon Salford Quays.
As for the dates, the first match will be played on the 12th February at home, with the away leg taking place on the 6th March in Paris.
Honestly, with the league season already being as good as over, I simply cannot wait for this one. Who knows, we could surprise a few people in Europe…
