The Red Devils have a huge chance to go within two points of top spot today. Now, we know the confirmed man Utd squad for the game vs West Ham that’ll be tasked with doing exactly that.
Games like these have been Manchester United’s downfall during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign. With each passing match, though, this feels like a team with huge potential.
Bruno Fernandes has undoubtedly been the catalyst for that, though Solskjaer has shown a real astuteness in the transfer market – signing players to improve this squad slowly but surely.
Today’s fixture against David Moyes’ West Ham will not be easy, so it’s up to the manager to get this one absolutely right tactically.
Now we know the 23-man squad that Solskjaer will have to work with, thanks to the Evening Standard.
It includes the return of Defender Luke Shaw from injury, while young Facundo Pellistri will travel. I’d be surprised if he’s involved, mind, after playing for the U23s last night. He would score a beauty during that game though. There’s no spot in the party for key star Anthony Martial. Hopefully, he’s not injured…
Confirmed Man Utd squad vs West Ham
De Gea, Henderson, Grant, Wan-Bissaka, Fosu-Mensah, Maguire, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Shaw, Williams, Pogba, McTominay, Fernandes, Fred, Matic, Van De Beek, James, Pellistri, Mata, Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani, Ighalo.
United would like to try and play on the counter again here, though our finishing simply has to improve. With that in mind, Edinson Cavani simply has to start this one. I’d also expect to see both Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford involved.
Winning that midfield battle is vital. Nemanja Matic didn’t play in midweek so he’ll be feeling well-rested and ready to start here. I’d also be shocked if Donny van de Beek isn’t included.
Whichever way you look at it, this squad should have more than enough quality to get the job done. What a massive momentum boost it would be to win all three points here.
