The confirmed Man Utd XI vs Istanbul Basaksehir has been named by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Red Devils going strong for this one.
With a chance to make it three wins from three in Europe, while taking a real stranglehold of the group, Solskjaer was always going to play a strong side here.
Changes were also always going to be made. After all, the Baby Faced Assassin has a responsibility to keep this squad feeling fit and fresh, particularly with games coming fast.
Istanbul Basaksehir cannot be underestimated. They’re in European competition for a reason and our Red Devils will have to be on their A-game. Win this, though, and Solskjaer can start thinking about taking his foot off the gas.
Anyway, let’s get right into the team news, confirmed by United’s official Twitter account just a few minutes ago…
Confirmed Man Utd XI vs Istanbul Basaksehir in full:
As we covered earlier, Dean Henderson has been handed his first Champions League start and what a moment this is for the young Englishman.
He’ll have captain Harry Maguire sitting in front of him, though Axel Tuanzebe gets the nod instead of Victor Lindelof. United’s full-backs remain the same, with both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw starting.
Nemanja Matic comes into the side ahead of Scott McTominay, which is no surprise given the latter’s poor performance against Arsenal. Donny van de Beek starts alongside Bruno Fernandes for the first time. This will certainly be interesting to see.
Juan Mata is recalled and rightly so, too. Marcus Rashford starts, presumably on the left-wing, while Anthony Martial leads the line.
I’m disappointed to see no Edinson Cavani, but I guess we can’t have it all. The Uruguayan is on the bench, alongside the likes of Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and Fred.
