Confirmed Man Utd XI vs Istanbul Basaksehir (Champions League home, 2020/21)

Old Trafford should be the stage for Red Devils revenge tonight. We’re now just an hour away from kick-off, with the confirmed Man Utd XI vs Istanbul Basaksehir now named by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United sit with two wins from three, though the loss to Istanbul Basaksehir last time out was a poor one. It’s time to put that right, while re-taking control of this Champions League group.

It goes without saying that United should have more than enough quality to win this one comfortably, regardless of what team is named by the Baby Faced Assassin.

With that said, Solskjaer has to be wary of the threat that is posed by Istanbul Basaksehir. Underestimate them at your peril.

Unfortunately, they’ll be no Old Trafford crowd in attendance to roar United home if this one is tighter than anticipated, though looking at the starting line-up that has been named, we have to feel confident.

Confirmed Man Utd XI vs Istanbul Basaksehir:

David de Gea does start, which is somewhat surprising given the claims we covered yesterday from the MEN which stated Dean Henderson was in line to play.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the starting right-sided defender, while opposite him on the left, Alex Telles plays once again. Harry Maguire is included, with our club captain partnering Victor Lindelof at the heart of defence.

Fred plays, most likely as the deep-lying midfielder as there is no Scott McTominay in the squad while Nemanja Matic is named as a substitute. Donny van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes will be tasked with creating chances and carving open the Istanbul back line.

Here’s where it gets exciting. Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford make up the front three. I’m not sure exactly who is going to play where, though you’d imagine the Uruguayan will be the main striker in this one.

It’s super to see the likes of Teden Mengi and Facundo Pellistri named amongst the substitutes and who knows, both may well see some action if the result is secured going into the latter stages of the match.

Come on boys!
