Man Utd have confirmed the starting XI that’ll take on Real Sociedad, in their first leg of their Europa League tie tonight.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s best chance at silverware now comes in the cup competitions. With that in mind, a run in the Europa League cannot be sniffed at.
Real Sociedad are a tough opponent, though. Make no mistake, this one won’t be a walk in the park over two legs. It’ll be nice to see Adnan Januzaj once again, though his side definitely won’t go down easily.
Changes were always going to be made in this one. I guess I expected more than what the Baby Faced Assassin has made, though you have to respect the opponent. Anyway, let’s get right into the all-important team news.
Confirmed Man Utd XI vs Real Sociedad in full:
Dean Henderson comes into the side, starting this one in between the sticks as he’s given another chance to impress.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka continues to be the only viable option at right-back and he was always going to play here. Alex Telles gets the nod ahead of Luke Shaw, who has more than earned his rest. Harry Maguire always starts when fit, though his partner will change. Eric Bailly gets some minutes under his belt which is a nice boost.
Scott McTominay will sit at the midfield’s base, with his mobility set to be key against an excellent Sociedad midfield. Bruno Fernandes is playing, which I guess makes sense in Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba’s absence. Fred also starts.
Daniel James comes into the team for a rare start, presumably off the right-wing. Marcus Rashford starts off the left, with Mason Greenwood getting the nod through the middle.
In terms of game-changers on the bench, Anthony Martial, Shola Shoretire, Amad Diallo and Luke Shaw all feature.
