The confirmed Man Utd XI for the away game at Sheffield United is now in, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer springing a surprise or two…
Well, Manchester United have their chance to close the gap on the league leaders tonight – and on paper, it technically couldn’t be any better. The Red Devils take on basement-dwellers Sheffield United.
Chris Wilder’s side have been better than their record suggests, though, and we’ll have to be fully focused to come away from Bramall Lane with all three points.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named the starting line-up that he hopes will do just that, with a few surprises in amongst it…
There is no Edinson Cavani in the squad, who misses this one with injury. As expected, the likes of Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly are all left at home as all are nursing issues.
Anyway, let’s get into the players who are available…
Confirmed Man Utd XI vs Sheffield Utd in full:
Dean Henderson comes into the side in place of David de Gea, with the Englishman given a chance to make a return to a club who gave him so much over the last couple of years.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka starts at right-back while Alex Telles plays opposite him over on the left. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof make up the now-customary back two.
Nemanja Matic is favoured over Scott McTominay at the midfield’s base. I’m surprised Fred isn’t included on the team-sheet. Both Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba get starts here.
The front three is one that gave us so much joy last term. Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford all start. Lovely stuff.
You’d like to think we’ll be left celebrating at full-time, though that’s far easier said than done. Three points here would be absolutely massive, though.
