Confirmed: Manchester United appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager

Manchester United have acquired the services of Jose Mourinho, and he will be the club’s new manager, according to Sky Sports News. The self-proclaimed Special One signed on the dotted line today, and will take charge officially on July 1st.

Sky go on to say that Mourinho left his meeting with Edward Woodward at around 5:20pm, and he, symbolically wore a red tie during the final stages of negotiations – which is sure to please Manchester United fans.

The 53-year old has been out of work since before the turn of the year, when Chelsea sacked him as his side were sitting close to the relegation zone.

Talks were believed to have been smooth due to the desire Mourinho had for joining Manchester United, and now the fans can look forward to seeing the manager in action on pre-season.

His first game in charge will be against Borussia Dortmund on July 22nd, closely followed by his first Manchester derby against Pep Guardiola’s City.
