The confirmed MUFC XI for their penultimate pre-season game vs Atletico Madrid is now in…
As we gear towards the start of the Premier League in a little over one weeks’ time, Manchester United play their second to last pre-season friendly.
The match takes place against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid over in Oslo, with Erik ten Hag hoping to put on the finishing touches to a pre-season that has been one of progression for the Red Devils.
Make no mistake about it, this game will not be easy. Atletico Madrid are amongst the best sides in the business and they will not make it easy for United.
As expected, a strong line-up has been named by Ten Hag, with rumours always suggesting that this would be the better squad out of the two United friendlies being played this weekend.
There’s only places on the bench for both Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen, though I hope we’ll get to see them play some part at least. Anyway, let’s give you the full rundown of the starting line-up.
Check out the confirmed MUFC XI vs Atletico Madrid in full here:
David de Gea starts, with the Spaniard looking to continue to improve with the ball at his feet.
Diogo Dalot has been given the nod at right-back. The Portugal international seems to have taken over the starting role as things stand, while Tyrell Malacia has edged ahead of Luke Shaw. Harry Maguire partners his old friend Victor Lindelof at the heart of the back four.
Scott McTominay is back after missing the last friendly with an injury. He reunites with Fred at the base of United’s midfield. Bruno Fernandes is included in that number ten role.
There’s no Jadon Sancho, who did travel but isn’t in the squad. More on that when we get it. Anthony Martial leads the line, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga to his right and left respectively.
